too much scanning.

above: printmaking pholio done.
pre-mounting a few things.
i love eyebrows. whoever expected that might eventuate.
you can't use pen in here.man yawning so.very.loudly.
had essay on Picasso's Weeping Woman. went a bit Picasso mad. tried to draw EVERYTHING EVER.
girl with bird. favourite? one of.
Picasso and boy from train.
blending fashion designers. mushing together a bit of John Galliano+Jean Paul Gaultier.
with a bit of Jess over the top. :{
fingers.
my fish-hair lady. without reference and with (i like to think intentionally) distorted limbs.
and ribcage.
from catwalk photograph. designer forgotten.
white curled wig, diagonal sheer-opaque dress.
left: del kathryn barton
right: jess-interpretation
scrolling through Lambros' photos.
drawing miss ainslee meredith. quite a bit repeatedly..
fantastical hair.
drawing class started.
didn't know what to do.
opened little book.
had massive piece of paper.
started painting on it.
then went back to book and did some 'where to go next?' trials (below) (four)
below: photographed large-paint progress
with scale. note: moleskine on floor.
and anchored masking tape at the top.
further indication of scale: when i stand on the ground (on the bottom of the paper. in my socks.) and put my arm up (either arm, they're about the same length) i have to stand on my toes to reach the masking tape.
big. portrait.
(resemblance isn't quite right yet. i hadn't printed a picture. i was trying to do it from my initial biro sketch)two sets of eyes. one open, one closed. intending to add in blue to open eyes.
and more charcoal sketchy lines.
but next week. on tuesday. because it's too big and raining to take home and forth.above: discussed with Finn a preference for wearing socks without shoes.
established that each of us had dusty socks for this reason.
curioused selves with what might happen were inanimate objects less inanimate and more disagreeable.
and more likely to paint back.

p.s.
while i'm name dropping,
perhaps a re-cap and visit-encourage:

drypoint coppe.retching.

above:
newsprint and cotton rag paper
dry-point copper etching

below:
seriesabove:
1. blue + black ink, mixed, on copper plate. can see tiny bit of trees.
2. blue + black ink with little paper stencil creating white areas
3. + 4. no extra ink applied. put through press again on shiny new paper.
5. through press twice: once with last of blue+black, then cleaned and once with black, lightly.
(5. can be enlarged lots :D)

waste:
waste of time: looking up

(fitzroy garden tree leaves)

below:
flipped and without the newsprint. more accurate to the initial photograph.
close-up!
i like the close-up.
you can - almost - see more/better than on the actual print.
(or it's my eyes. being inefficient.)

kind of love dry-point.

skinny pages.

new moleskine.
couldn't get the one i wanted.
now have very thin pages.
which are crinkling with the acrylic paint.

so expect some very ugly scans :D

but that's okay.

am doing a bit of copying at the moment. uni drawing classes want us to imitate. so the following are imitations:
(i haven't bothered to shrink them down. they might be nicer big. feel free to get click-happy)
(titles also present on enlargements)

left: by John Olsen
right: by Mondrian

above: by Mondrian
hee. paper wrinkles.

above: by John Olsen

no more imitations for now.

new things in new book:
uhm. drawing people's photos from facebook is going to ocur also. so uhm. keep an eye out for people you know?

left: (sideways) (tilt head to the right) hot chocolate at 3am
right: naked lady. with hands. and her hair is also hands. i'm not sure.
i wish sometimes my hair would do that.

above: unfinished. i got distracted by finding other things to draw.
like Will.
foldy pages. oops.
above: Will cutting his hair on skype.
above: lady from Vogue Australia. most recent copy. September?
edit: coloured her:

O
kay.
most exciting thing all week:
you know how sometimes you can feel improvement?
like. it doesn't matter whether other people can or cannot see it. but you look at something you do and just think "yes."
I AM SO HAPPY WITH THIS DRAWING/PAINTING/THING.

above: Isabella Blow and Daniel Lismore
acrylic and grey lead smooshed around on the page.

copper plate of bareness.

naked copper plate.

i have an idea. and i'm excited about it :D

and it's ontop of a letter that i wrote to sumi last year and never sent. so i am going to get dressed and deliver it. and that will be the most useful thing i will do today.

the two items are unrelated.
that's just how they were sitting on the desk. so that's how they ended up in the scanner.

printmaking. pop! splatter. ink.

lino prints on newspapercomics
and a moleskine update.

inked clippings will likely be mounted on nice white paper tomorrow afternoon between glass and sleep.
and i can crap on a little about what they mean. but perhaps not eloquently right now. hence. not typing any of it.

i can taste cloves.
