crumple paged update

sketchbook photographs.
he got wet, so now it's going to be a long-term photos-only situation.
which is kind of nice. less like artificial-cheese yellow.
more like the colour that it actually is.
artbeat
tamuz's performance/show, thinking about screenprinting, thinking about storing scissors
trimapee launch, 1 and 2, unedited to cleanliness.

some close bits:
this is what i want my room to be. in a forest.
bottle-vase ladies. keeping your flower supported. or being your flower.
with waterdrop eyes.

jewellerybook

this is me trying to make a book for/as jewellery.

this is me on photoshop, tidying the background ..and then multiplying things, and now wanting to make rings for more fingers than people have.
or rings that ring two hands together. or rings that ring you to things.
or rings that ring to your toes.

this is me thinking about gloves with jewellery in the fingertips.
it's going to be a busy life.

TOMATO film The First.

hairy beads

i made some beads with some trimmed hair sprouting out of them.
made from little bits of leftover ...two-part... (pending). i will find out what it is called.

and this is a shirt with velvety green, and a jacket with super artificialness, and hair that matches.

reference: Juhani Pallasmaa, The Eyes of the Skin (West Sussex: Wiley-Academy, 2005), pg 11.
'The ultimate meaning of any building is beyond architecture; it directs our consciousness back to the world and towards our own sense of self and being. Significant architecture makes us experience ourselves as complete embodied and spiritual beings. In fact, this is the great function of all meaningful art.'

david bielander artist book/catalogue

Building a Steak of Creativity.
David Bielander

quoted on a page with a slug:
'...and Sam tore the glove off, squealing, as four fingers fell to the deck and danced
like half a pound of live prawns.'
Tim Winton, Cloudstreet

'Naturalness is, as Oscar Wilde once remarked, the complexest
of poses. One might generalize this to add that all appearance is a product.'
Pravu Mazumdar, A Theatre of Appearances
I like all appearance as a product.

'I am very happy that no piece really allows itself to be thoroughly thought through. Never.' pg.27

some things i've looked up as a result of this booklet:
Moire (click particularly)
'This shimmer, that you can't sort out or arrange, is what I want.' pg.25
Oscar Wilde Quotes on appearance
found the actual thing :To be natural is such a very difficult pose to keep up.
and also:
“Looking good and dressing well is a necessity. Having a purpose in life is not.”
“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.”

“I have yet to meet a man as fond of high moral conduct as he is of outward appearances”
Confucius

“What we want is not freedom but its appearances. It is for these simulacra that man has always striven. And since freedom, as has been said, is no more than a sensation, what difference is there between being free and believing ourselves free?”
Emile M. Cioran

“Keep looking below surface appearances. Don't shrink from doing so just because you might not like what you find.”
Colin Powell

(the last two/three) vs.
“It is only shallow people who do not judge by appearances. The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible.”
Oscar Wilde

I should hand-write and scan more posts. the font and spacing are not what i want.
