something old i found in Drafts.

5/8/2010
moleskine situation:
approximately three pages left.
issue.
slowing down.

oh, exciting thing!
the girl. above. with the wonderful lanky limbs
is copied from a drawing/painting: 'The Three Brides', 1893, by Jan Toorop.
which i found exciting.
because it looks so much like illustration now. including what i have been doing.
it was in a book of mondrian's art. i forget why. it was on page 13 before things got abstract.

found it:
and also, another jan toorop:

Going Down Swinging Launch

(click to pur-chase)

last night was the launch for Going Down Swinging Issue #31

i sat and did drawings because i can't help it/like to.

^ these are some people around me, including jo, who writes creatively

^ this is some writing
^ this is a bit tidied. don't look too closely. it has fuzzy edges.

^ this is a performance of The Siren and The Sailor,
(a piece in GDS that i illustrated)

Going Down Swinging!

hello!
a few posts back i said there would be news:
Going Down Swinging

i was asked to illustrate the cover! (above)
and have a few illustrations also frolicking on the inside!
!

Going Down Swinging is a literary magazine
based in Australia,
publishing amazing creations for your eyes and ears and minds.

this is going to be the first DIGITAL EDITION,

where it will be environmentally happy and available on itunes, everywhere.

sneak-details to be found on Geoff's blog

it's being launched on the 17th of June,

(this friday)
Launch: at The Builders Arms
211 Gertrude St, Fitzroy
Friday June 17
8 pm to 11 pm
Entry free/donation

the cover also comes with a little film,
where you can watch 20 minutes of drawing
and cutting and inking become about three and a half.
and also a whole lotta draft images of the cover.
i got draft-enthusiastic.

Also featuring in the next issue (#32):

there will be illustration by the lovely,
whimsical, folky conjurer of floating twigs
and wearer of grrreat jumpers,
Aaron Billings

might see you at the launch/
might pretend to see you by looking out through the video,
or you might see the edges of my fringe
and the sleeves of my top by looking into it

(ha, when you buy Going Down Swinging Issue #31).

EDIT: you can buy ISSUE #31 HERE!

for $5. and it looks damn fine on an iPad/iPhone.

avocado-walk

this is me walking to uni one morning last week.
all colour-blocked and autumn.

these are some eyes in my studio at uni:
on my wall
and with fabric paint,
painted over the advertising on a tote bag

some eyes on my desk:

and taking an eye (and a tear drop) for a walk.

freezin' pink hair lines

computer froze, so i did some scribbles while i waited.
and then i wondered how they'd be in colour.
now i'm wondering how to inflict this upon myself.
listening to bjork because she's fantastic and dancing on the back of a truck.
