1. inspired by a conversation with my friend Moth while we were waiting for film: 'I Am Eleven' to start.
2. hanging up bits of yourself, a jar of glitter, some windows in the Nicholas Building.
3. i was sitting on bed. and! i used pencil before pen. which i still find new and exciting. i haven't rubbed out the pencil yet. admittedly, it doesn't end up too different from the pencil. but it just makes it more trial-y.

geraniums - The Crumbling Ecologies Project

last week i participated in The Crumbling Ecologies Project
(alongside artist sharon who makes beautiful scarves)

which was/is being thought/conducted/conceived/organised/followed-through by artist jasmine targett.

the project literally (and in most basic terms) involves dipping geranium leaves into
porcelain slip in a thin layer and then firing them in a kiln so that the leaf burns out and a rather lovely
and much delicate appearing leaf remains. the ideal is to have a thin enough layer that there are lots of veins (for aesthetic reasons).

the project discusses craft and its role in art and the (hopefully not, but likely) impending doom of
subjects such as glass and ceramics in universities.
geraniums were selected to represent this as, in many parts of the world,
they are becoming endangered or extinct, and also for being socially associated with old and outdated.
(slash they remind me or grandparents and so i think they're really nice.)

also i did a drawing where geraniums are growing through a person. she is a part of the stem.

i saved it months ago without any relevant information. i made the lady purple and then it just seemed perfect that she

would have purple baths. with her snails. she just dyed her hair. the snail is making ice crystals with its eyes. out of

i bought a roll of stretch fabric from an op-shop, cut out two circles and sewed them together

leaving an opening for feet.

it felt like it deserved a better way of moving around than walking,

particularly with the weight of the fabric and the stretchy bounce,

so jumping was selected.

and then i took it on a little jumping tour.

i'll post it up. it went from being inside a pen to being a drawing to being a photoshop file to being transferred

indicating, by the last theory, that its opinions have leaked and have nothing to show for it.)

un-plucked flower things are better at keeping their opinions in.

the sun is setting almost, and it's dipping through the between-desk dividers

and making light-lines that look like the fluorescent lights on the ceiling.

also, chewing bread makes horrible sounds. library is empty, though.

been obsessing over hair-font

and looking for something to do with it,

so I thought I'd quickly try it out in between reading the internet.

time constraints in every aspect of everything at the moment
made me think it should be for something other than personal amusement,

so it is a postcard illustration for The 'Love Is Here' Project

i'm following through with the legibility considerations.

maybe too much legibility happening here...

surely hair doesn't speak with such a thick black outline.
